 Fresh
Start Transitions was formed because of Adele Mahan and Grace Ely’s
love for older adults. In 2005, after Grace learned of the need to have professionals
manage the stressful details of relocating to a new residence, the two began working
together. They both also enjoyed organizational tasks and a very fulfilling opportunity
was launched.
Grace
now works part time with Fresh Start Transitions, due to her commitment with SIM,
Serving In Missions, where she assists retired missionaries.
Adele
Mahan, owner of Fresh Start Transitions, was born and raised in Atlanta, Ga. and
attended Western Carolina University. She and her husband have lived in Charlotte
since 1989 and are the parents of two boys. They also own a golden retriever.
 Adele
formerly worked as a licensed Realtor with Prudential Carolinas Realty, SouthPark
location. During that time, she gained valuable experience helping others throughout
the home sale process. Adele received training as a ASP (Accredited Home Stager)
in hopes of enabling her clients to get top dollar for their home. Adele also
earned her CRTS (Certified Relocation Transition Specialist) to insure quality
services and national support while working with senior adults. Lastly, Adele
earned her CAPS (Certified Age In Place Specialty) which has trained her to make
design and functional changes to a home, in order to better suit those with physical
disabilities. For instance, this includes changes that would make wheelchairs
and walkers more accessible.
 Adele
enjoys playing tennis with her friends and family and loves to read. She desires
to bring comfort and support to older adults and their families. Her goal is to
help create a ‘Fresh Start’ during this new season of life.
